Before assigning this formal assignment, you will need to split the class up into groups of two. Each student will have to interview their partner, pretending that they are a reporter trying to get the inside scoop as to what makes up their partner's culture. The students will need to use the answers to the following interview questions to create a newspaper article. They will have class time to do this.
Interview a Classmate
For this assignment, you will pretend you are a journalist and you will be interviewing the classmate you were paired with. After asking your partner the following questions, create a news article about your partner and their personal culture. When you write the article, keep in mind the aspects of journalistic writing that we have discussed. You will have three class periods to work on this. Whatever you do not finish in class will be assigned as homework and will be due in another 3 school days. I hope you all have fun getting to know your classmate a little better! :)
